David Robinette, McCourt Equipment Mining Engineer/Customer Support, received a Bachelor of Science in Mining and Minerals Engineering and a Minor in Geological Sciences from Virginia Tech in 2001 and has worked solely in the Aggregates Industry since that time. Positions have included three working internships with Martin Marietta Materials in North Carolina and Western Maryland, Eastern US Technical Services Group in Towson, Maryland for Lafarge Corporation, Great Lakes Aggregate Performance team member in Streetsboro, OH for Lafarge NA, Mining Engineer/Plant Performance for Shelly Materials (an Oldcastle company) in Findlay and Ostrander, OH, and Mining Engineer for Alleyton Resource Company (a Summit Materials company) in Columbus, TX.
Responsibilities with those experiences varied and included: equipment/plant operation and routine plant maintenance, performance metrics gathering and presentation of KPI’s, team member for investigating and evaluating potential acquisitions, assisting in integrating purchased companies, scheduling and compiling plant audits to identify and address inefficiencies, was instrumental in the Capital Expenditure Process where he would use plant simulation tools and site studies to justify and write capital requests and typically manage once approved, and aggregate plant supervisory roles. He was instrumental in Oldcastle’s Plant Metric Tracking System as its co-creator, including training of nearly all Oldcastle operating companies, development of training documents, and assisted in the development of KPI reports. Another exciting role was being a company instructor where he helped develop materials and train foremen/managers in Crushing, Screening, Conveying, Washing/Classification, and Process Optimization. With Summit Materials, he focused metrics tracking, forecasting, budgeting, and introduced/trained individual site supervisors/managers to the corporate financial/accounting tracking system, was responsible for all of Alleyton’s aggregate capital requests, inventory measurement/reporting monthly, managing new equipment installations, making plant changes to maximize production, Greenfield plant projects, as well as acquisition evaluation, and acquisition integrations, various plant improvement projects, budgeting/forecasting for all locations, mine planning, overburden removal management, long-term site management strategies, and personnel development.
At McCourt Equipment, David uses his industry experiences in project justification, plant simulation, presentation skills, and process improvement knowledge to assist our valued customers in their mining and processing improvement needs. McCourt Equipment is pleased to offer David’s assistance to our customers with the justification process, equipment selection, and evaluation of existing processes for potential improvement suggestions. From the working face to loadout, we will strive to assist our customers in making the best long-term solutions for their business and solidify our ongoing relationships.
When not at work, David enjoys clay target shooting, gardening, maintaining a classic car collection, and traveling back to his family farm in the Appalachian Mountains of Maryland.
